Description of Classes

PERSONAL PROTECTION HANDGUN - LEVEL I

This is a 1-day, competency based class, that covers most of the Basic Firearms Safety & Handling principles via video tape. The student MUST watch this prior to the day of class. There will be an open book written exam., based on that information, completed at home. There will be a discussion time, first thing on class day. We will then move to the range, where we will move through proper loading and un-loading of a firearm, proper draw stroke, basic shooting drills, proper malfunction clearance techniques, strong hand ONLY shooting, manipulation and malfunction clearing techniques, weak hand ONLY shooting, manipulation and mal-function clearance techniques, position shooting, basic weapon retention and retention shooting, and principles of neutralizing a threat. More advanced techniques will be added as time and class ability permit. Equipment and ammo requirements: Safe, serviceable handgun of caliber suitable for personal protection (9mm/.38 Spl. or larger), quality holster and mag/speedloader pouches, 500 rds. of ammo., eye and ear protection and clothing suitable for any weather.
